New Work: Poppy Reid

Drawn in Bristol studio member Poppy Reid has been busy in our screen-printing area layering up a poster for The Gallimaufry's new Friday night special.

'This is a poster for a weekly Northern Soul night at The Gallimaufry.  I was inspired by old soul vinyl records and posters from the 60s, and love to use complementary colours and bold shapes in my work alongside hand rendered typography,' says Poppy.

Poppy's design incorporates two colour layers, creating a third colour by overlaying sections of the design.  The result is this fun typographic print which clearly shows Poppy's signature style, and how well it lends itself to screen printing.

'I am passionate about using screen printing as a method of creating artwork because of the lovely unpredictable textures and the limited colour palette.'
