Workshop: Monoprinting with Stencils at the Folk House

Sophie Rae’s studio desk is often covered with inky stencils and rollers these days as she is often found cycling across Bristol to deliver her fun, hands on printmaking workshops. ‘Monoprinting with Stencils’ would be the best way to describe them.

Her next workshop will be taking place at Bristol's artsy music and crafts venue, the Folk House on Park Street on Saturday 9 August.

MONOPRINTING WITH STENCILS
Saturday 9 August | 10am - 4pm | Only £28

{ Suitable for beginners }
MATERIALS LIST
You will need to bring an apron to wear, or simply wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty/inky.
You can also bring some inspiration for greetings card designs to get you started, e.g. magazine pictures, books or photos.

'You will have fun with durathene rollers, using them to apply vivid ink through paper stencils.  This workshop will allow you to experiment with the possibilities of the materials and learn how to apply them in building up your own print on greetings cards and bookmarks, which will be supplied.

You are welcome to bring along other flat paper products to apply this new technique to, which can easily be done at home without the need of printmaking facilities.  You'll enjoy a relaxed and open day of learning a new skill and finding ways of tailoring the materials to your ideas, with my help and advice along the way.  This process requires little pre-planning, and gives you the opportunity to learn as you go, with time to make happy accidents.  Participants will be taught how to build up their image gradually, and be able to experiment by adding ink, stepping back, considering their piece, adding more, and evaluating as they go along.'
